Part of the reason Ramona Harken began collecting snowmen was because her sister-in-law owned a gift shop by Council Bluffs.  Lots of the snowmen from her shop began making their way to Ramona’s home beginning about 15 years ago.  Since then Ramona has added many endearing snowmen to her collection.  That required the building of a long shelf to display her jolly little fellows.  She thanks her husband, Eugene, for making that possible.  Besides receiving some as gifts, Ramona has also acquired some of her snowmen at garage sales and during after-Christmas sales.  In addition she has also crafted some of them herself.  All-in-all it has been fun for her to expand her ever-growing collection.  And this year it may very well be that the only snowmen you see are in the library’s display case.  Stop by soon and take a peek.
