Interlibrary Loan
The Aplington Legion Memorial Library strives to build a collection of books, DVDs, and other materials based on the needs and desires of our community. We appreciate recommendations and purchase requests from our patrons, but due to limited budgets it's simply not possible to buy everything that is published. However, the Aplington Legion Memorial Library does participate in state-wide sharing of library materials This is called inter-library loan or ILL. Our library uses SILO Interlibrary loan to lend and borrow items from other Iowa libraries.
It is free for patrons to borrow materials from another library. Loan periods may vary based on the type of material requested, but most items may be kept for up to 4 weeks. Staff will inform you of the loan period when you pick up items. Items are delivered on Wednesday afternoons through the IAShares van delivery system, provided by the State Library of Iowa. It could take two to three weeks to receive your requested material.
We do not borrow materials that we own. We also do not borrow items that were published within the past year. These items can be suggested as a purchase request.
Use the form below to request ILL materials. You can also call the library, e-mail or stop in and fill out the form.
