Mobile Hotspots

In order to promote access to online resources to our community, the Aplington Legion Memorial Library offers mobile Wi-Fi hotspots as a part of its circulating collection. A mobile hotspot is a device that can be used anywhere to create a wireless network so patrons can connect any Wi-Fi-enabled device to the Internet. The hotspots are portable, so you can connect your device almost anywhere you are.

If you are 18 years or older and have been an active cardholder in “good standing” at the Aplington Public Library, you can come in and check out a mobile hotspot for two weeks (14 calendar days). “Cardholder” is defined as a resident having an active library card for a minimum of 60 days with multiple material check-outs. “Good standing” is defined as a library card account and any custodial children/guardians’ accounts having fines and fees of less than $5.00 and must be approved by the library staff. Hotspot devices:

  • are limited to one device per household
  • may be reserved
  • may be checked out for 14 days
  • may be renewed if no holds are present on the hotspot
  • $10.00 per day late fee
  • $100 replacement cost for a lost, damaged, or stolen hotspot
  • A fee of $25.00 will be issued if returned in the book drop.
